Fellow Democrats,I would first like to congratulate our victorious 2009 county ticket of Surrogate James S. LaCorte of Elizabeth, Freeholder Alexander Mirabella of Fanwood, Freeholder Deborah Scanlon of Union, and newcomer Freeholder
Mohamed Jalloh of Roselle. Our Surrogate, who is second to none, will continue to provide excellent and caring service to our county community. I can’t say enough for the exceptional work Freeholder Mirabella provided as the Freeholder Chairman last year. Freeholder Scanlon will assume Vice Chairman duties along side Freeholder Dan Sullivan of Elizabeth as our 2010 Freeholder Chairman. I am truly excited to see the Board injected with the infusion of youth and fresh ideas with the election of Freeholder Jalloh.
We have consistently swept all countywide offices for over a decade which is a testament to your commitment to our Party. You can take great pride in the services and resources this County Government provides to its taxpayers and all of our 21 municipalities. Our victorious local candidates from the 2009 election must also be commended for their service throughout the county.
At the state level, our county is represented by extraordinary legislative leaders - Senators Raymond J. Lesniak, Nicholas Scutari, and
M. Teresa Ruiz, as well as in the Assembly represented by Joe Cryan, Annette Quijano, Jerry Green, Linda Stender, Alberto Couthino, and
L. Grace Spencer.
Our success as a county party begins with the grassroots. Our strength is you - the Municipal Chairs, our County Committee Members, our
local candidates, our Headquarters team, and exuberant volunteers.
The 2010 year will be a challenging one for us Democrats on all levels - Local, County, and State. Regardless of our success, reality is here
and we must be aware of the new administration in Trenton. We feel the effects. I’m proud of our accomplishments and long run of success.
We continue to grow one of the most successful Democratic organizations in New Jersey. We must never be complacent. There is much work
to do and November will soon be here. I look forward to working with all.
